Media Language and Representations: The Big Issue Revision
Location: This is set in London because as London is the capital, and migrants tend to go towards London as it is the central hub of industry in the UK. it is also an iconic area which many readers would be able to relate to.
Costume: Paddington bear is wearing his classic clothes, but the Big Issue has used the colours red (hat), white (snow) and blue (coat). to portray the patriotic colours of the Union Jack. They probably did this to show the reader that there is a sense of belonging and how migrants are still part of our country and community, even though they may be from the other side of the world.
Props: The suitcase is to show that the migrants have little in the way of possessions, and that we should help them because they have literally left everything behind in their native country. It also implies a sense of homelessness, and by using a cute character such as Paddington, people reading the front cover may feel sorry for the migrants who have become outcasts from society because we won't accept them.
Lighting: Only the street light is used as the darkness from the night gives the shot more atmosphere, and also shows through the dark lighting that immigrants are not accepted into society.. It also connotes the cold and how migrants who have nowhere to live are sleeping outside in the cold.

Choice of camera shot/angle: Slightly low angle shot as if we are inferior if we do not accept people into our country and help them live a good life. This would play on some readers conscience.
Typography: Gold type, represents money and how we value wealth more than people.
Layout: He is in the centre with the text over the top because the Big Issue want the headline to be clear and want the viewers to really think about what its saying.
Address of written content to the audience:You are with the magazine, so as the magazine has liberal views, most of the people buying it will do to so they will be able to relate to the message the magazine are trying to get across.
