  1. How long have they been together? They formed in 1985, so have been together for 32 years. This is why they have been such a huge success, as their fans have been loyal to them, and their fan base has grown a lot since the band first formed.
  2. How would you categorise their music? On Wikipedia they are classed as:

    • progressive rock,

    • experimental rock
  3. How are they represented  in their promotional material (videos, photos etc)? 
Image result for radioheadThere are a lot of photos of them of when they were younger, but also of the band when now which shows how they have been around for a long time, so could be considered a classic band. The band obviously has a cult following so fans are loyal to them, but also music magazines like to write articles about Radiohead which are usually very complimentary. However, all their photos seem to be in black and white, as if they are trying to portray their dark sense of style which comes through in their music videos, in a more subtle way. They would probably do this as their appearance itself is not as harrowing as you would have expected from watching their music videos.

 The band signed to EMI in 1991 and then released their debut single "Creep" in 1992. This became a worldwide hit following the release of their debut album "Pablo Honey" in 1993. The bands second album gained them popularity and their third "OK Computer", which was released in 1997, took them to international fame. This third album is often named as a landmark record of the 1990s and as one of the best albums in popular music.

Final draft of Posters

Final draft I have made these posters for my final draft. The first one has my model standing on a tree trunk looking into the distance. I have edited it in a way that makes the picture brighter and less dark, but if I was making this poster again, I would make sure that when I re shoot this picture l, you are able to see the clothes such as the t shirt more clearly. I would do this as the clothes are supposed to be the centre of the poster, so I need to make them be more of the focus. I would also have it so that she is at a right angle as the picture looks slightly odd because she is tilted slightly. The logo is in a different place in both the pictures, so I need to frame them better if I retook them so that there is continuity. The second poster is of my model in an archway of trees. The male gaze in Papa Roach- ...To Be Loved

The male gaze in a music video of my choice- Papa Roach- ...To Be Loved      We can see in the music video, and the image below, that this video is aimed at a male audience as the Rock genre has generally more male listeners than female. Because of this, the video is focused on the lead singer, Jacoby Shaddix, with lots of girls, some of which wearing revealing outfits. Jacoby is used to represent a situation that men would like to relate to, so the male audience do this.  The singer Jacoby looks at the predominantly male audience as if to say, this is what you can be like if you live like me ( a rocker). The audience may look back at him with a sense of want or jealousy as that is the life they want to have.
