Statement of Intent

Statement of Intent I will be creating a music video for a dance artist called Liberté and the song I’m using is DJ Snake and Aluna George- You know you like it. I chose this song as it has the general conventions of the dance genre, such as beat drops and a techno base. I will use an image of an eye in my video as well as my website, as I intend for the music video to open with an eye opening, and the video to end with the eye closing.  The music video will have many of the dance genre music video conventions including a dance performance containing two female dancers who will both be of the 16-25 AB demographic, and a narrative to give the music video more depth, which tells the story of a girl faced with a moral decision who is guided by the two parts of her conscience. In other dance videos, the mise-en-scene of the videos includes lots of colour such as pinks and blues, whether that be in the setting of the music video which is going to be a middle class street as the target

Target audience research

Image
Your Target Audience: A culturally sophisticated 16-25 AB demographic. AB Demographic: A - Upper Class - Higher managerial, administrative or professional. (4% of population) B - Middle Class - Intermediate managerial, administrative or professional. (23% of population) This video depicts two sisters who are travelling together and being independent. Throughout the video the older generation are constantly judging these two sisters who are travelling on their own. This could appeal tot he target audience as it has this sense of family, but also acceptance. These two topics are usually associated with a higher class than lower class because they tend to involve more thought and different perceptions of the meanings of the videos. A lower class is usually interested in the visuals of music videos, whilst A and B groups tend to have to think about the actual meanings of the videos. This David Guetta music video is based on a metaphor that suggests

The History of Dance Music

Image
Disco: Disco  is a musical style that emerged in the early 1970s from America's urban nightlife scene, where it originated in house parties.  In most disco tracks,  string sections , horns,  electric piano , and electric  rhythm guitars  create a lush background sound. Orchestral instruments such as the flute are often used for solo melodies, and  lead guitar  is less frequently used in disco than in rock. Many disco songs use electronic  synthesizers , particularly in the late 1970s.  Well-known disco performers include  Donna Summer , the  Bee Gees ,  Gloria Gaynor ,  KC and the Sunshine Band , the  Village People ,  Thelma Houston , and  Chic .  Many non-disco artists recorded disco songs at the height of disco's popularity, and films such as  Saturday Night Fever  (1977) and  Thank God It's Friday  (1978) contributed to disco's rise in mainstream popularity.  Disco was a key influence in the later development of  electronic dance music  and  house music

Artist's websites

Image
Artist's websites Sigala- https://www.sigalamusic.com/ Sigala is a DJ who focuses on dance music. His style does conform to general dance music, with the techno beats being very present in the music. We can see from his website that this music is supposed to be happy/ relaxing. Through the use of the bright colours in this background picture it shows how the type of music that he makes is usually upbeat and positive. This style of dance music is used in clubs as well as on places like beaches. We can see this from the background and colours. The text/font of the text is very curvy and playful, suggesting this is what the music is like also. In contrast- Don Broco- https://www.donbroco.com/ This website is representing the British Rock band Don Broco, and you can see that this band do not use pictures of the band themselves, suggesting they are more focused on their music than the appearance of the band. They have got the name of their newest album at the top of t
