Media Language and Representations: The Big Issue (Revision)

Image
Media Language and Representations: The Big Issue Revision Location: This is set in London because as London is the capital, and migrants tend to go towards London as it is the central hub of industry in the UK. it is also an iconic area which many readers would be able to relate to. Costume: Paddington bear is wearing his classic clothes, but the Big Issue has used the colours red (hat), white (snow) and blue (coat). to portray the patriotic colours of the Union Jack. They probably did this to show the reader that there is a sense of belonging and how migrants are still part of our country and community, even though they may be from the other side of the world. Props: The suitcase is to show that the migrants have little in the way of possessions, and that we should help them because they have literally left everything behind in their native country. It also implies a sense of homelessness, and by using a cute character such as Paddington, people reading the front co

Research Task: Dance Music

Research Task: Dance Music What makes all of these music videos from the dance music genre?- All these videos include a performer/dancer and there is usually a story line in a way, for example, in the first video the girl on roller skates is spreading dance in a city through the smoke on her shoes. This could be taken as a metaphor for how dance connects people from different backgrounds etc. In the second video it follows a guy and his group of friends as they go about their everyday life and how there life includes dance in most parts of it. The last video doesn't really have a story line per say, as it focuses on a group of girls in a house and they are just dancing. In all of the videos, the clothes are relatively similar as they are all wearing brightly coloured sports clothes. This seems to be a big part of the dance genre, so I will keep that in mind when planning my own video. The songs on top all have a similar beat, and there wi

Preliminary Production Evaluation (Moving Image)

Our Recreation of "H&M Close The Loop" We have recreated H&M's Close the Loop video. I am going to go through the most important shots in the video and I am going to compare the original to our recreation. Unfortunately we were unable to collect all the shots that we needed so are missing a couple, so we have put place holding pictures in the place of where those scenes should be. - Wear brown shoes after six Camera Shot / Angle-When we have the shoes get out of the car, the recreation is very accurate as the angle is low to the floor and focused on the shoes as they get out of the car. We could have made it so that we did not have the car door in shot as the attention of the audience may be drawn to that rather than the shoes because the camera light is reflecting off of the door.  Location, Editing-We had a slight continuity error in the fact that when the shoes get out the car it is night time, yet in the full length shot of the man it is dayt

Media Language and Representations: Advertising and Marketing (Old Spice)

Image
This Old Spice advert is part of their new campaign to attract a younger consumer as the brand has always been aimed at older men. They do this by using an actor/model who many men would like to look like, and many women would like to be with, so this poster is enticing to a younger audience as they feel as if they can relate to the campaign. They also use an imaginative setting, having the man act as a beach with sand, palm trees and sunbathers. The use of the bright colours also will entice a younger consumer market as they find the advert interesting to view and eye catching. The main focus is on the mans face, and his facial expression is suggestive of as if he knows best, and if he uses Old Spice then so should the men looking at this advert. The volcano on the models head can be inferred as if to say that the product is mind blowing in a way, but also shows the extravagance of the advertisement, and how the model who wears Old Spice can handle anything. This may make men want
